Taming of the Shrew is an Egyptian comedy built around a simple but universal truth about human nature. Zarifa, a village girl shunned by everyone around her, leaves home to work as a maid in the household of Hefnawy. Her fortunes reverse dramatically when her brother dies and she inherits his substantial wealth — and suddenly, the very people who avoided her are falling over themselves to seek her favor. The film plays the reversal for sharp comic effect, using Zarifa's story as a lens on greed, hypocrisy, and the way social attitudes shift the moment money changes hands.
