Fokaraa Lah Yatkholoona Al Gana (The Poor Don't Enter Heaven) is a raw Egyptian social drama that follows Ahmad, a man who witnessed the murder of his mother at his father's hands as a child after a betrayal that shattered his family. Growing up in a shelter and later moving to a single rented room, Ahmad tries to build a decent life when he falls in love with a poor young woman and resolves to marry her. But his ambitions are fiercely opposed by the building's owner, Boss Yaqoot, a scheming and predatory man who desires the woman for himself and eventually obtains a court order to evict Ahmad.
