Overview
The Monkey Trainer is an Egyptian crime comedy that follows the young thief Fattouh, who first meets the wily Master Bayoumi while both are doing time in prison. After his release, Fattouh goes straight back to his old tricks — until a police chase forces him to take shelter with Master Bayoumi. Under his roof, Fattouh learns the unusual trade of training monkeys, and is handed the primate Simsam with instructions to train him as a pickpocket. A light-spirited comedy crime film that mines its humor from the absurdity of outsourcing crime to a monkey, blending classic Egyptian comedic timing with a gently farcical premise.
