Say Hi to Soso is an Egyptian social comedy that follows Saeed and his colleague Samir as they fall into financial hardship, making them easy targets for the opportunistic Ali. Using their vulnerability as leverage, Ali convinces the two friends to exploit their government positions — accepting bribes in exchange for expediting citizens' requests, while he takes a cut of every transaction. When Saeed and Samir reach a breaking point and decide to repent and walk away from the arrangement, they discover that Ali has no intention of letting them go so easily. The film is a sharp and funny examination of how petty corruption takes hold, and the difficulty of extricating yourself once you have been drawn into the system.
