Overview

Shaaban Below Zero is an Egyptian comedy film following Shaaban, a mild-mannered clerk with a quiet affection for his colleague Zainab. When the millionaire Al-Ghatarifiy dies, his scheming family searches for someone from his hometown willing to impersonate Fareed Al-Ghatarifiy — the real heir living abroad — and help them seize the estate. Shaaban agrees to the deception in exchange for half the fortune, slipping away to Cairo without telling Zainab the real reason. Complications multiply when the real Fareed returns to demand his share, and then the police arrest Shaaban — mistaking him for a Fareed wanted for murder. The film delivers a cascade of comic mix-ups and mistaken identities in classic Egyptian comedy style.
