Jiran Akhar Zaman is an Egyptian comedy film that mines the quirks and complications of neighborhood life for laughs. Hisham becomes acquainted with his new neighbor, the popular singer Minshawi, and his mistress Nora. Meanwhile, Minshawi's friend Zaki develops feelings for Hisham's relative Elham, who firmly rejects his advances. When Minshawi manipulates Hisham into believing he assaulted Nora during a drunken blackout, he coerces him into a sham marriage contract — setting off a chain of comic misunderstandings and social entanglements that escalate hilariously throughout the film.
