
An Egyptian actor, born in Tanta, Gharbia Governorate, Egypt, on November 20, 1913, under the name Saeed Mahmoud Abu Bakr, and died in Cairo, Cairo Governorate, Egypt, on October 16, 1971, due to complications from heart disease. He is an Egyptian film, theater, television and radio actor. He obtained his baccalaureate degree from Tanta Secondary School. He was active in school theater. He traveled to Cairo and joined Ramses Band with Youssef Wehbe. He worked in the municipal council in the city of Suez, and after three years he returned to Cairo, and worked in the Ansar Acting and Cinema Troupe, the Fatima Rushdi Troupe, and the Fouad El-Gazairly Troupe. He joined the Acting Institute at the beginning of its formation under the leadership of Zaki Tulaimat, and after graduation he worked as an inspector in the school theater affiliated with the Ministry of Education (Education), in addition to his work in the modern theater troupe under the leadership of Zaki Tulaimat. In the sixties, he participated in establishing the television theaters led by Abdel Qader Hatem and Al-Sayyid Badir. He served as director of the Comedy Theater in 1963, and presented the plays Bridge of the Mosquitoes, Harakat Tarqiyat and Al-Mahrousa, and in the National Theater he presented the plays The Return of the Spirit, The Confused Sultan, and The Case. And Cairo in a thousand years. Director Mohamed Karim brought him into cinema with small roles in Mohamed Abdel Wahab’s films The White Rose and Happy Day, and he appeared in many films in distinctive supporting roles, most notably Avocado Madiha, Professor Fatima, Always With You, Devils of the Air, Nimrod and Antar Ben Shaddad. His only starring role was in 1951 in the movie The Seven Effendi. Saeed Abu Bakr was one of the pioneers of radio at the time of the boom in radio drama, and his distinctive voice played a major role in his fame. One of his most prominent works was the role of the lying slave in the radio musical picture “One Lie.” He participated in some TV series and evening shows. He died in 1971 of heart disease at the age of 57.
