Overview
Atshanh is an Egyptian social drama that follows newlyweds Samia and Salah, whose marriage begins to crack under the weight of his mother's mistreatment of Samia. Unable to endure the hostility at home, Samia demands a divorce and strikes out on her own, finding work at a company and gradually reclaiming her independence. Meanwhile, Salah pursues a career as a lawyer, each charting their own course after the collapse of their shared life. The film examines the tensions between personal freedom and family pressure in Egyptian society.
