When Wives Are Absent is a Syrian comedy film starring the beloved comedian Duraid Lahham as Ghawar, a man of many hats — daytime beach guard and nighttime sculptor. Living alongside his friend Hosni, the two men share a common predicament: their wives are perpetually away on trips, leaving them to their own devices. When a criminal gang sets its sights on a statue housed in Ghawar's museum, they dispatch two attractive women to seduce and distract him and Hosni. What follows is a string of comic misadventures that skewer male vanity and naivety, with Lahham's signature physical comedy driving the laughs as the two friends stumble from one farcical situation to the next.
