The Pursued is the fourth instalment in the Harafish epic, adapted from Naguib Mahfouz's celebrated saga of Cairo's alleyways. Samaha Al-Nagy, grandson of the legendary Ashour Al-Nagy, seeks nothing more than to marry the woman he loves, Mahlabia. But the neighbourhood bully Al-Qalali has his own designs on her. When the young couple attempts to flee, Al-Qalali's men kill Mahlabia and frame Samaha for the murder, sending him on the run to Upper Egypt. A gripping drama of injustice, forbidden love and survival in the shadow of street power.
