Return to Haifa is a Palestinian drama film adapted from Ghassan Kanafani's celebrated novella, set in the aftermath of the 1967 war when Palestinian refugees living in newly occupied territories were permitted to return and visit the homes from which they were expelled in 1948. A Palestinian man and his wife make the journey back to Haifa, confronting a past frozen in time and the profound question of what home and identity mean after decades of displacement. The film is a landmark adaptation of one of Arabic literature's most important political works.
