Overview

Attente is a Palestinian documentary that follows Ahmad, a filmmaker on the verge of emigrating abroad for good, as he accepts one final assignment: auditioning actors for a new National Palestinian Theatre. Accompanied by interviewer Bissan and her cameraman Loumir, Ahmad travels across refugee camps in Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon in search of talent. The journey becomes an immersive confrontation with the lived reality of Palestinian displacement — humiliating checkpoint searches, barricades, and relentless tension. As his departure flight approaches, Ahmad faces an existential reckoning, directing auditioning actors to dramatize the very destiny he shares, and wondering whether his long-awaited exile will finally arrive.
