Beirut: The Encounter, is a 1981 Lebanese movie, directed by Borhane Alaouié, and starring Haithem el Amine, Nadine Acoury, Najoua Haydar. with a runtime of 97 minutes.
In 1977 Beirut, Zeina, a Christian student, and her close Muslim friend Haidar fail to meet despite their best efforts. Before her departure to the United States, each records an audio tape explaining their views on why the fighting in Lebanon persists. When fate prevents Haidar from reaching the airport to exchange their tapes, Zeina leaves heartbroken, their unspoken words the only testament to a friendship caught in the crossfire of a divided city.
