Houses in That Alley is an Iraqi social drama set in a working-class Baghdad neighborhood where a group of old residential buildings crumbles, killing and displacing impoverished families. An investigative journalist takes up their cause and discovers that contractor Abu Fahad constructed the buildings with substandard materials in flagrant violation of safety codes. When his exposé fails to move the authorities, he realizes Abu Fahad is shielded by a powerful and wealthy patron above the law. A sobering portrait of corruption, accountability, and the human cost of unchecked power in Iraqi society.
