Promise, is a 1954 Egyptian movie, and starring Mariam Fakhr Eddine. with a runtime of 100 minutes.
Promise (Wa'd) is a romantic drama film built around a childhood triangle of love, loyalty, and fate. Three inseparable friends — Medhat, Adel, and Fatima — grow up with a bond that is both tender and complicated. Their families, hoping to seal that bond, arrange an engagement between Fatima and Medhat. But Adel harbors feelings he cannot express, and with no hope in sight he leaves for abroad, carrying his love in silence. When he returns, circumstances have shifted: the engagement is broken, and Adel finally marries Fatima. Yet fate, as the film suggests, rarely delivers what we imagine. Promise is a thoughtful drama about the weight of old commitments, the unpredictability of life's turns, and what remains of childhood vows when time reorders everything.
