And Tomorrow? is a landmark 1971–1972 Tunisian drama and the debut feature film of director Brahim Babai, adapted from the novel by Abdelkader Ben Cheikh. One of the earliest Tunisian films to confront pressing social issues, it examines rural exodus, unemployment, and famine that plagued the country during the 1960s. The story centres on three farmers who abandon their drought-ravaged village in search of a better future in the city, only to find a reality far removed from their hopes. A pioneering work in North African cinema, the film uses its characters' journey as a lens to expose the deep inequalities of the postcolonial era.
