Aziza, is a 1980 Algerian movie, directed by Abdellatif Ben Ammar, and starring Yasmine Khlat, Raouf Ben Amor, Mohamed Zinet. with a runtime of 95 minutes.
Aziza is a Tunisian drama film set around 1980, as Tunisia undergoes sweeping social and economic transformation. Si Béchir, an aging traditional craftsman, sells his house in the old medina and relocates his family to a modern neighbourhood on the capital's outskirts. His niece Aziza blossoms in the new environment, befriending a young actress named Aïcha and discovering possibilities the medina never offered. His son Ali, by contrast, lurches from one failed small business to the next. When a wealthy Gulf sheikh arrives and fans the desires of everyone around him, the family's hopes for a new life are briefly lit — then just as quickly extinguished. A quietly observed film about modernity's false promises and the dislocation that comes with leaving the old world behind.
