Zolm El Mastaba is an Egyptian rural drama set across the villages of Etay El Barud in Beheira and Abydos in Sohag, exploring the grip of entrenched tribal customs — blood vengeance and customary law — on the lives of ordinary people. When Hassan travels abroad, his rival Hamada seizes the opportunity to marry the woman they both love, Rabia, exploiting the religious authority of his brother Sheikh Alaa to impose his will on the community. Upon his return, Hassan declares war on those who wronged him. A socially conscious drama that examines how tradition can be weaponized against the vulnerable in rural Egypt.
