The Choice is a gripping Egyptian military drama based on true events, honouring the life and sacrifice of Colonel Ahmed Sabr al-Mansi, commander of Egypt's elite Thunderbolt Brigade, who was killed in an ambush at Muraba'a al-Barth in Rafah in 2017 while repelling a terrorist attack in Sinai. Set against the backdrop of Egypt's ongoing counter-terrorism campaign, the series also follows Mansi's former comrade Ashmawy, who became radicalised and rose to lead militant operations — placing two men who once served side by side on opposite ends of a war.
