The Troublemakers is an Egyptian comedy film following Rico, the director of a theatrical troupe, who leads his company to Lebanon after receiving a performance invitation from a local impresario — only to arrive and discover that the man has died, and his widow has no intention of honoring the contract. Stranded and unemployed in an unfamiliar city, the troupe scrambles to find work, and their leading actress finds unexpected romance with a wealthy young man who takes it upon himself to help them. The film is a light and energetic comedy that sends its eclectic cast of performers on a fish-out-of-water adventure between Cairo and Beirut, mining laughs from their misfortunes and mishaps along the way.
