Mimezrane, is a 2008 Algerian movie, directed by Ali Mouzaoui, and starring Ouardia Ould Taleb, Hamza Iguer. Abderrhamane Debiane.
Mimezrane is a lyrical Amazigh folk tale that opens with the timeless words "Once upon a time", drawing audiences into the story of a young girl whose beauty — especially her magnificent braids — earns her the name Mimezrane. Orphaned very young, she shares a carefree childhood with her closest companion Hennouche, a mischievous boy with striking black eyes. As the years pass, Hennouche becomes a goatherd with a melodious voice and Mimezrane a washerwoman and water carrier, both quietly accepting the lot life has dealt them without complaint. Even in poverty, Mimezrane retains a grace and beauty that sets her apart in this visually rich celebration of Amazigh oral tradition and the enduring poetry of North African folklore.
