The Forgotten Hill, is a 1996 Algerian movie, directed by Abderrahmane Bouguermouh, and starring Djamila Amzal, Djohra Bachene, Mohammed Abbes. with a runtime of 90 minutes.
The Forgotten Hill is an Algerian period drama adapted from Mouloud Mammeri's novel, set at the outbreak of World War II. Two friends from the Kabyle region, Mokrane and Menach, are forced to abandon their studies and return to their remote village of Tagsa while awaiting conscription into the French Army. During this interlude, each pursues love: Mokrane marries the beautiful Aazi only to discover she is unable to have children, while Menach is drawn to Davda, who is already married to a wealthy merchant. The film thoughtfully explores desire, social constraints, and the weight of tradition in wartime Algeria.
