Le Regard, is a 2005 Moroccan movie, directed by Nour-Eddine Lakhmari, and starring Jacques Zabor, Hassan Essakali, Khalid Benchegra. with a runtime of 88 minutes.
Le Regard is the debut feature from Moroccan director Nour-Eddine Lakhmari, a psychologically rich drama about memory, guilt, and the weight of a buried past. Albert Tueis, a 70-year-old French photographer preparing the retrospective exhibition of his career, is compelled to return to Morocco — where, as a young soldier and army photographer during the Moroccan War of Independence, he took photographs that were never published and negatives he buried in the earth. Without those images, his retrospective cannot be complete. But the Morocco he returns to is not the one he left: it is a changed, complex society full of present-day rivalries and hidden difficulties. As Albert navigates this new landscape, the powerful and brutal photographs from his past resurface with growing force, demanding confrontation. A meditation on abuse of power, redemption, and the impossibility of escaping history.
