Hallak Hoosh is an Egyptian comedy about three unemployed young men who share a rooftop dwelling overlooking an open-air cinema in their neighborhood. After every attempt to find legitimate work ends in failure, desperation sets in — and a foreign heist film they manage to watch from their rooftop vantage point becomes the unlikely spark for a plan to rob a local bank branch. The film uses sharp wit and popular comedy to explore the very real pressures of unemployment and social frustration, following its hapless protagonists as amateur criminals collide with a world they are entirely unprepared for. A crowd-pleasing Egyptian comedy with a strong satirical edge.
