Battal min Al-Janub, is a 2000 Egyptian movie, and starring Naglaa Fathy, Carmen Lebbos. Ahmed Khalil.
Battal min Al-Janub is a Lebanese historical drama that follows the story of Aziz, a Christian child from an Egyptian family — played by Naglaa Fathi and Ahmed Khalil — who is lost in the chaos of an explosion in Beirut's Sursock market at the outbreak of the Lebanese civil war. Adopted by a Muslim family (Carmen Labos and Joseph Bonsar), he grows up as Abdullah, shaped by a faith and community entirely different from his origins. When he eventually discovers his true identity after years of fighting alongside Islamic fundamentalists against Christians, he undergoes a profound inner transformation and ultimately joins the Lebanese southern resistance against the Israeli enemy. The film is a powerful meditation on identity, belonging, and the human cost of war.
