Overview
The Fifth Groom is an Egyptian romantic comedy centered on Bahira Hanem, a woman besieged by four greedy suitors whose interest in her is transparently mercenary. Wise to their schemes, she devises an elegant test: she pretends to be penniless to see how the fifth man — a new arrival — responds when there is no fortune to chase. The film uses its light comic premise to deliver a pointed commentary on marriage, self-interest, and the rarity of genuine affection in a world where motives are rarely what they seem.
