An Egyptian director, he graduated from Fouad I Secondary School in 1932, then traveled to France to study cinema. After his return from France, he tried to learn the English, French, and German languages. His studies extended to philosophy, literature, economics, and cinematography, as well as teaching music and playing the piano. He participated in composing the operetta (Badr Al-Daji), and his cultural knowledge expanded as he received drawing lessons from his friend Salah Taher. His cinematic career began by writing and directing a film. (Behind the Curtain) in 1937, followed by his works after that, the most prominent of which are (Determination), which is the first realistic film in the history of Egyptian cinema, and the film (Laila Bint al-Faqar), which he wrote, but fate did not give him the opportunity to complete his directing, as he passed away on April 2, 1945.
