Ward wa shouk, is a 1970 Egyptian movie, directed by Kamal Salah ElDein, and starring Nahed Sherif, Mohamed Roshdy, Nawal Abu ElFottoh. with a runtime of 98 minutes.
Ward wa Shouk is an Egyptian social drama film set in the Delta city of Tanta, following the far-reaching consequences of a single moment of weakness. Hassan loves Basima, his neighbor's daughter, and after an intimate encounter he promises to return from Cairo and marry her — unaware that she is now carrying his child. In Cairo, Hassan's wallet is stolen by a thief who is then struck and killed by a car, leading everyone to believe Hassan himself has perished. Left alone and pregnant, Basima faces a desperate and dangerous situation that exposes the harsh judgments and social constraints bearing down on women in rural Egyptian society. The film is a raw, realistic portrait of love, circumstance, and the unforgiving social landscape of conservative provincial Egypt.
