Sotto Voce, is a 2013 Saudi movie, directed by Kamal Kamal, and starring Amal Ayouch, Mohamed Bastaoui, Ahmed Benaissa. with a runtime of 94 minutes.
Sotto Voce is a historical drama set during the Algerian War of Independence, on the volatile Morocco-Algeria border where the Morice Line — a 430-mile electrified and heavily mined barrier — cuts off escape routes for revolutionaries and refugees alike. Moussa, a Moroccan sympathizer of the independence movement, guides refugees through mountain paths, but when his usual route becomes unsafe he is forced to pass through the village of Beni Boussaid. Along the way, Hans, an East German Communist militant fighting alongside the Algerians, loses a leg attempting to clear a mine from the path. The group faces a profound moral dilemma: Hans is not Muslim and cannot be honored as a martyr, yet he has sacrificed everything for the cause. A quietly powerful film about faith, solidarity, and the boundaries of belonging in wartime.
