Overview

Ramadan On the Volcano is an Egyptian comedy film following Ramadan, a young and cash-strapped government employee whose modest income stands between him and his dream of marrying his fiancée Aliya. Under pressure from her overbearing mother, Ramadan hatches an audacious plan: steal the office payroll, hide it, then turn himself in to serve a short sentence — emerging from prison with enough money to finally wed. The scheme seems foolproof until a criminal gang beats him to the bag, leaving Ramadan having boldly stolen an empty case. A light-hearted comedy of errors about a man whose grand plan is undone by an even grander twist of fate.
