Ma mère, David et moi, is a 2012 Saudi movie, directed by Taysir Batniji. with a runtime of 16 minutes.
Ma mère, David et moi is a video work by Palestinian artist Taysir Batniji built around a telephone conversation between the artist in France and his mother in Gaza — intimate, fluctuating, fragmented, and sometimes indistinct. From this intimate exchange, Batniji constructs a multilayered reflection on displacement, exile, and the in-between, combining personal narrative, souvenirs, impressions, and archival documents. Through a triple point of view, the work explores how one looks at home from a distance and how emotional connections are maintained across the fractured geography of occupation and diaspora.
