The Olive Tree of Boul'hivet, is a 1978 Algerian movie, directed by Mohamed Nadir Azizi, and starring Azzedine Medjoubi, Zoulikha Laouadj. Himoud Brahimi.
The Olive Tree of Boul'hivet is an Algerian drama film set in the remote Saharan village of Boulhilet, where a solitary olive tree holds the only shade and mystery in a barren stone desert. Belkacem, a young unemployed man, is entrusted by Bouacha — a wandering old dervish of unknown origins — with the secret of this tree. When modern life arrives through a water supply project, the boundary between dream and reality begins to dissolve for Belkacem. Convinced he has killed a rival in love, he flees the village disguised in the dervish's robes, mimicking the old man's distinctive gait. A poetic Algerian film blending mysticism, romance, and the isolation of desert life.
