Overview

Love and Revenge... With a Meat Cleaver is a ghoulish horror comedy and the final film from its director before his untimely death from chronic liver disease. The story follows a husband who smothers his wife to death with a bowl of porridge and buries her in a shallow grave, eager to start fresh with his mistress. Predictably, the wife does not stay buried — she returns from the dead in a state of considerable fury, intent on violent revenge. Released theatrically before finding further success on home video, the film is an unapologetically dark and gleefully campy genre piece, blending genuine scares with black comedy in a way that makes its grim premise oddly entertaining.
