Overview

Halfaouine: Boy of the Terraces is a Tunisian coming-of-age drama film following twelve-year-old Noura, who hovers uneasily on the uncertain threshold between childhood and adolescence. His awakening curiosity has cost him access to the women's bathhouse where his mother once took him freely, while he remains too young to join the adult conversations of the men in his traditional Tunisian village. Caught between two worlds that no longer fully claim him, Noura finds his only real companionship in Salih — the village troublemaker and political outcast. A beautifully observed, quietly powerful film about the painful loss of innocence and the loneliness of growing up between belonging and exclusion.
