Chronique De Mon Village is an Algerian film in which director Karim Traïdia revisits his own childhood memories during the Algerian War of National Liberation (1945–1962). Nine-year-old Bachir is consumed by a singular dream: to become the son of a martyr, convinced that independence will reward such children with everything. While his father Saddek is absent, Bachir hatches an elaborate plan to eliminate François, an enemy of his country. Told with warmth and gentle humour, the film chronicles the innocent yet earnest adventures of a young boy and his friends against the devastating backdrop of a merciless war, offering a deeply human perspective on a defining chapter in Algerian history.
