Ouqbal El Bakari is an Egyptian romantic comedy film following a celebrated dancer who yearns for genuine love beyond the glare of fame and fortune. Rejecting the advances of countless admirers, she dreams of a man who will cherish her as a person rather than a celebrity. Her wish is answered when she falls for a talented young painter who reciprocates her sincerity. Their plans to marry are stalled, however, by the struggle to find an affordable apartment — a very relatable challenge in Egyptian society. While flat-hunting, the painter becomes entangled with a scheming family intent on marrying him off to their daughter, setting the stage for a series of comic misunderstandings that expose the trials and absurdities of romance and matrimony in modern Egypt.
