Overview

Deserts (Al-Thulth Al-Khali) is a Moroccan dramatic thriller following Mehdi and Hamid, two longtime friends who work as debt collectors, crisscrossing the villages of southern Morocco in a battered old car, sharing rooms in rundown hotels and wearing virtually identical clothes. Their monotonous routine is shattered one day at a remote desert gas station, where they encounter a motorcycle with a man handcuffed to the luggage rack — a fugitive tax evader. This unexpected meeting sets the two on an unforeseen and strangely mystical journey through the Moroccan desert landscape. A slow-burn road film rich with deadpan humor and existential undertones.
