Overview
The Punishment is an Arabic social drama that follows Aisha, a domineering and cruel woman who rules her husband's household with an iron fist, subjecting the family to relentless hardship. Her only son Khalid is a gentle, passive man ill-equipped for life's harshness. As the years pass, the wheel turns on Aisha: Khalid marries and gradually adopts his mother's own cruelty, eventually abandoning her to live out her days alone in a nursing home. The series is a deeply human meditation on karma, the cycles of suffering, and the justice that time itself administers.
