Ala Ad Lihafak is an Egyptian comedy of social pretense and mismatched ambitions. Samara, the daughter of Qatayef, yearns for a life of luxury far removed from her mother's humble existence. When Rabih, a wealthy man's driver, masquerades as Mohsen Bey to impress those around him, and Katayef passes herself off as the daughter of the grand Bakir Pasha, a web of comic deceptions begins to unravel. The arrival of another family with its own claims sets off a chain of hilarious revelations. A classic Egyptian social comedy that pokes fun at class pretensions and the lengths people go to marry into wealth.
