Mahmoud Rashad

An Egyptian artist famous for playing the roles of an aristocratic man, he was born on August 23, 1915. He graduated from the College of Commerce and worked in a bank. Then he was discovered by Fateen Abdel Wahab and turned to art at the age of 48. Our biggest stars, such as the artist Adel Imam, participated in their work. He played the role of the wealthy, kind father, and despite the lack of artist Mahmoud Rashad’s artistic works, he was well associated with the public’s minds through secondary roles that he began in 1963 with the movie “The Little Witch” with Rushdi Abaza. Directors did not draw attention to him until three years later, when in 1966 he presented two films with Farid Shawqi: “Demons of the Night” and “30 Days in Prison.” The sixties witnessed a stage of artistic prosperity for Rashad, during which he stood with the giants of the beautiful era, such as: Shadia in “The Dignity of My Wife” in 1967, Souad Hosni in “Papa Wants This” in 1968, and especially in 1969 and 1970, during which he participated in eight films. Consecutive films, the most famous of which are: “Miramar” with Imad Hamdi, “My Father is on the Tree” with Abdel Halim Hafez, “The Amusement Street” with Shams Al-Baroudi, and “The Groom of the Minister’s Daughter” with Shweikar. As for his works for television, they did not exceed 6 series, such as: “Mizo Stories” with Samir Ghanem in 1977, “Mouths and Rabbits” with Salah Zulfiqar in 1978, and “Eyes” with Fouad Al-Muhandis in 1980. Rashad died on February 27, 1989, after performing his last work with Maryam Fakhr El-Din in “The Man Loves Twice” in 1987.
