
An Egyptian actor, born in the city of Sherbin in Dakahlia Governorate on December 15, 1930. He obtained an acting diploma in 1952. He also served at one time as Director General of Mass Culture in the Arab Republic of Egypt. His beginning was humble in some works, but the real breakthrough began with director Kamel Al-Tilmisani in the movie “A Date with the Devil” in 1955 with Zaki Rustom and Mahmoud Al-Meligy. After that, he played roles in many famous films in cinema, television and theater. Among his films are: (The Hunter of Men, Khan Al-Khalili, Al-Karnak, The Hunter of Women, We Are on the Bus, First Year of Love, The Bus Driver, A File in Arts, Ramadan Above the Volcano, Mulberries and Nabut, Tramps, The Wife of an Important Man, Bab al-Nasr), and among his dramatic works are: (The World of Uncle Amin, The Sparrow of Fire, Muhammad is the Messenger of God, Part Three, Stories of He and She, Sunbul after a Million). In theater, most of his works were from Naguib Mahfouz’s novels, including: (Between Kasserine, Miramar). He also directed the play (Al-Shaba’anin) in 1966 with Omar Al-Hariri and Amin Al-Hunaidi. He won the award for best actor on television in 1962 for a play for a variety of reasons, with the distinguished actress Amina Rizk and directed by Yahya Al-Alami, and he won the award for best actor in a second role in the movie (The Bus Driver). He was honored at the Art Day by President Anwar Sadat and also honored by Egyptian Television in 1984. The artist Ali Al-Ghandour’s last works in 1989 were the series (Noah’s Sorrows) and the films (Me, the Virgin, and the Capricorn) and (Agent No. 13).
