Overview

The Day I Lost My Shadow is a Syrian drama film set during a bitter winter in wartime Damascus. Sana, a young mother living alone with her eight-year-old son while her husband works in Saudi Arabia, faces an urgent domestic crisis when she runs out of gas to heat the house or cook a meal. What begins as a simple errand — finding a replacement gas cylinder — turns into a harrowing journey through the war-ravaged outskirts of the city. Director Soudade Kaadan's film uses this intimate, everyday struggle to bring the human cost of the Syrian conflict into sharp and devastating focus.
