Ya Muayris is an Arabic social comedy that tackles the crushing burden of high dowry costs and the toll they take on an entire generation. Khaled is a young man eager to marry, but sky-high dowry demands keep a family forever out of reach. Years pass, Khaled remains single, and the women of his town age into unwed spinsters. The film uses biting satire — comparing Khaled to a crate of tomatoes no one can afford — to critique rigid social customs that leave willing hearts stranded, blending sharp humor with genuine pathos about the human cost of tradition.
