Boy and Girl is an Egyptian romantic drama that pairs an unstoppable young man with the daughter of an unconventional novelist. Sameh is headstrong and used to getting his way; when he falls for Shahd, he enters the orbit of her father — a celebrated writer who holds strong, very public theories about love and the physical body, and is unafraid to voice them in interviews with his daughter present. The film uses this generational tension as a backdrop for a love story about independence, identity, and whether two people can find each other despite the ideas they've been handed.
