The Seventh Dog is a comedy-drama short film following Soraya, a French-Palestinian woman living in New York City with her seven beloved dogs. When her boyfriend Yusif's carelessness leads to one of the dogs being hit by a car, the building superintendent reports the couple to the Department of Homeland Security. What begins as a domestic mishap quickly snowballs into a bureaucratic ordeal that exposes the absurdities of life in post-9/11 America for people of Arab identity. The film uses dry humor and an everyday incident to comment on surveillance, identity, and belonging in contemporary America.
