The Giraffe is a darkly comic Egyptian film set across one urgent Cairo night, as Ahmed races through empty streets to secure money for a young woman's abortion. His mission is derailed when he falls in with a peculiar group of young people led by a woman determined to unravel the mystery of a giraffe rumored to be hidden inside Cairo Zoo. The absurd chain of events that follows pulls Ahmed further from his goal while plunging him deeper into the strange nocturnal life of the city. Part black comedy, part urban fable, the film uses Cairo's nightscape as a playground for the surreal, the desperate, and the unexpectedly moving.
