Overview

The Day That I Saw You is a short Arabic drama film narrated by an unlikely voice — a French cigarette brand called Gitane — which recounts the story of Seif, a young man in his mid-twenties suffocating under the monotony of an isolated urban existence. His persistent but futile attempts to connect with those around him define his days until one moment shifts everything: he glimpses a girl in the window of a neighboring building. The film is a delicate, minimalist study of loneliness and longing, using an inventive narrative device to explore what it means to truly see — and be seen by — another person.
