Overview

Under The Concrete (Sous le béton) is a short drama set in Beirut, Lebanon in 2017, as the city reels from a series of car bomb explosions. Rather than surrendering to the climate of fear, thirty-two-year-old Alan resolves to turn away from the security chaos and pursue a singular goal: breaking the world record for deep diving. The juxtaposition of urban violence with the solitary, interior challenge of extreme depth creates a quietly provocative meditation on escapism, ambition, and the human need to find purpose amid disorder. A Lebanese short film that uses an unlikely sporting quest as a lens on life in a city perpetually navigating crisis.
