The Eloquent Peasant, is a 1970 Egyptian movie, directed by Shadi Abdel Salam, and starring Ahmed Marei, Ahmad Anan, Ahmed Hegazi. with a runtime of 20 minutes.
The Eloquent Peasant is a dramatic adaptation of one of ancient Egypt's most celebrated literary texts, set during the Middle Kingdom period between 2160 and 2025 BC. When the peasant Khun-anup crosses the land of the nobleman Rensi, his goods are seized and he is falsely accused of theft. What follows is extraordinary: Khun-anup's petitions for justice are so eloquent that Rensi reports the discovery to the king himself, who is so entranced by the peasant's oratory that he delays judgment purely to hear more. Over nine formal petitions, the peasant argues his case with rare rhetorical brilliance. The work uniquely blends morality tale, folk narrative, and lyrical poetry into a profound meditation on justice and the power of the spoken word.
