Saha Dahmane is a documentary portrait of Dahmane El Harrachi, the legendary Algerian musician, singer, and composer best known for creating Ya Rayah — a song that would become an international phenomenon when Rachid Taha later covered it to worldwide acclaim, years after its creator's death. A virtuoso banjo player, Dahmane initially found his sound at odds with the purist tastes of Algiers chaâbi music circles, yet he persevered to earn a place alongside the genre's great masters, including El Hadj M'hamed El Anka, Boudjemaâ El Ankis, El Hachemi Guerouabi, and Amar Ezzahi.
